SOMM360

1. WHAT IS SOMM360?

SOMM360 – a tool for every sommelier in the world who would like to get support in continuing education and training for competition. Its initiative aims to help sommeliers with their goal to obtain their MS or MW, and WSET title or advance in other continuing education programs, as well as to increase the number and the caliber of candidates wishing to partake in sommelier competitions. Furthermore, it will provide a support network of peers and mentors to help sommeliers stay committed to their passion in this ever so demanding and changing hospitality industry.

3. WHAT IS THE BOOT CAMP?

The SOMM360 Boot Camp 

From November 25th to November 29th

An intensive five-day training for a select group of 22 sommeliers including 1:1 mentoring with top industry peers as well as service, blind tasting, and stress management coaching. SOMM360 will award 22 scholarships of excellence to top sommeliers from around the world to attend the Boot Camp (covering all costs for registration, training, travel to and from Montreal, accommodation, and meals for five days.). The Boot Camp includes The Congress, The Awards, and The Wine Experience. We are confident that our program will support these candidates’ pursuit of excellence in this industry, and at the same time provide them with a network of enthusiastic, international colleagues for knowledge exchange beyond the event. This masterclass will present a deeper look into Austria’s diversity wine styles.
In addition to Grüner Veltliner, other white varieties such as Neuburger, Rotgipfler, Zierfandler and
Roter Veltliner – as well as the red varieties Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch, Sankt Laurent and Blauer Wildbacher – are highly respected and, in fact, treasured once again.

For Jean-Claude Mas, the wine and products from his terroir are just as delicious as the emotional high derived from his entrepreneurial undertakings.

This session will also offer an interactive culinary wine pairing competition for all Congress attendees with Chef Alexandre Fontaine from Côté Mas restaurant.

This presentation will highlight premium, cool climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
The wines will be from regions that produce distinctive and expressive versions of these varieties. A focus on cool climate regions throughout Australia,

Tuesday’s theme of the day will showcase a blind tasting of 4 flights of 4 wines each.

Some speak of terroir as if it only existed in the great classic regions of Europe …however in defining vineyard sites in Niagara,
especially at Domaine Queylus, we see both Continental and Maritime influences… ‘How can this be possible?’
Having helped define terroirs in both the Northern and Southern hemispheres: in Chile, Oregon and Niagara,
Thomas will speak with passion on dealing with Niagara’s diverse “Maritime’ and Continental influences, and using them to highlight Terroir.

SOMM360 invites every wine lover to a world-class and immersive wine tasting experience. Going beyond a regular tasting evening, the program will offer attendees the opportunity to watch  sommeliers in training being challenged in different real restaurant tasks during the Somm360 Challenge. On top, the evening will offer an interactive and creative tasting activity, some exquisite wine pairings, a chance to meet top sommeliers from all over the world, many theme wine bars and more! A breathtaking meeting of really good wine, food and sommeliers!
