I’ve been in the wine industry as an instructor for about two decades, but collecting, thinking about and tasting wine for much longer. I discovered my great love for teaching long ago, first instructing martial arts, then wine as soon as I had a few WSET credentials under my belt. Those credentials include the WSET Diploma, and the International Sommelier Guild Diploma, and four years in the Master of Wine program. For more than a decade I traveled weekly for the ISG, training hundreds of sommelier candidates in major USA cities, as well as locally here in British Columbia. I now instruct all four levels for the WSET and am about to launch the CAPS Professional Sommelier Diploma in Vancouver, BC. I speak and educate for many wine marketing boards, judge extensively, and have started an apprentice judge training and mentoring program in Canada. I’ve organized and been the chief judge of several major wine competitions and am the Technical Director of the CAPS Best Sommelier of BC competition. In 2017 I was the national Technical Director of the Best Sommelier of Canada competition, and am also Vice-President for the CAPS BC chapter. In 2015 I started the Judgment of BC with Steven Spurrier, and we will hold the 5th annual wine challenge in 2019
